The Shirt Jacket

Patrick Assaraf Shirt Jacket

The Shirt Jacket is more of a hybrid outerwear piece, making it the ultimate layering garment for those cooler nights in Edmonton.  The hybrid piece also known as an overshirt, will provide the best of worlds for those in-between weather days. Typically, this type of clothing is designed with a relaxed, roomier fit and thicker material without being as heavy as a full-fledged coat.

We tested a slew of shackets produced by all kinds of fabrics including cotton, flannel, wool, and even denim. Aside from their reliable warmth, they’re also known for their versatility—in fact, some silhouettes can be worn on their own as well as dressed up or down.

To curate the best men's shackets, our sales associates put them through their paces in real life. First, we examined whether the fabric was scratchy or stiff. Also, we threw them on everything including sweaters, tees and tanks to see how well it layers. It was also important to take each option for a spin in different weather, from cool mornings to breezy evenings, to assess whether they kept us warm without overheating. And of course, the fit test was a major deal because that just-right relaxed vibe is a must. Keep scrolling to see our top 3 by Patrick Assaraf, HUGO and John Varvatos.
